The world’s first digital orthodontics conference held in Sydney by Dental Axess

Last week the CAD/CAM solution provider and integrator Dental Axess hosted the Australasian Conference for Digital Orthodontics (ACDO), the first conference purely to focus on digital orthodontics world-wide. The program took place at the Hilton, Sydney, across three days and consisted of both workshops and a one-day podium program where pioneers in digital orthodontics shared their digital journey with the audience.

During the first day Mr. Ari Sciacca gave a hands-on introduction to digital orthodontic applications and on the second day the participants deepened their knowledge on advanced orthodontic applications using CAD/CAM technology.

The podium program on 28 October was moderated by Professor M. Ali Darendeliler, Chair of the Discipline of Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry and Head of Sydney Dental Hospital’s Department of Orthodontics. Top speakers from Australia, Singapore, Switzerland and Denmark really showcased how digital solutions and tools have transformed their workflow and profoundly improved the patient experience. Presentations like “Manufacturing Orthodontic Appliances Utilizing 3D Printing Technology” and “Digital Treatment Planning for Improved Patient Communication and Care” gave the audience a real insight into what it is like to work in a digitalised practice. The program was wrapped up with an intense panel discussion where conference participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insight in areas of specific interest.

“The quality of the speakers and overall feedback from participants were exceptionally high and we are proud to be the initiators of such a ground-breaking event. Dental Axess plan to host the event again next year and we are looking at arranging similar conferences in Europe and North America in the near future” says Dental Axess founder and co-owner Belinda Muggleton.
